The WSFM would like to send out a special request for HELP AT THE PARK!  On Saturday, June 28th...starting at 8:00 a.m. we need about a dozen volunteers to come and help with work on the shrubs, flower beds, weeding the bark, and other miscellaneous tasks with the trees and shrubs.   This is not the day that we will be mowing or doing the other chores that the Friends of the Park will do in their ...weekly schedule.   The shrubs and beds around the shrubs are in need of immediate attention to bring the Park back to that pristine look that we have come to know.
We would like you to bring any silage forks, pruning shears, gloves, hedge trimmers that you may have and be willing to donate about 4 hours of your time.
ANY help that you can provide would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Please contact Mike Miller at     happymillmore@hotmail.com
if you are able to help so that we can get an idea of how many people will be there.
We SINCERELY Thank You in advance.

WSFM Final Alarm Ceremony and Final Alarm Procession is scheduled for October 11, 2014

On October 11, 2014 the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial, Inc. Board of Directors will be honoring fallen firefighters from the State of Wisconsin by sponsoring the annual Final Alarm and Roll Call Ceremony and the Final Alarm Procession in Wisconsin Rapids. We respectfully request your presence at our ceremonies as we pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities as members of the Fire Service. The Final Alarm and Roll Call Ceremony will be conducted at the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial Park. It is located on 2nd Street South in Wisconsin Rapids beginning at 3:33 PM. At that time a memorial service will be held to honor the memories of the firefighters who have died in the line of duty in the State of Wisconsin. The names of all Fallen Firefighters listed on the Memorial Wall will be read along with the tolling of the Memorial Bell for each.

This is a very moving ceremony and a wonderful way to honor those members and their families. Prior to, or at the conclusion of the Final Alarm Ceremony, you are invited to check out the exhibits located within the WSFM visitor center.

At 6:30 P.M. Fire Department drivers planning to participate in the Final Alarm Procession are asked to assemble at the park in preparation for the 7:00 P.M. start of the procession. This procession makes a winding tour through the streets of Wisconsin Rapids and terminates with a drive-by of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial Park.

The W.S.F.M. offers our thanks for your continued support of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial park.

The Wisconsin State Firefighter's Memorial is initiating a new fundraiser starting this October, and are asking for your Fire Department and Fire Departments in your area, to help with this new endeavor. On October 4th and/or 5th, the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial, will be pursuing a State-wide selling of Memorial Mums. These Memorial Mums are similar to the poppies you see sold for the benefit of Veterans at various locations and at different times of the year.

The Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial is going to sell the Memorial Mums, which will be purple in color with a white stem, symbolic of the colors of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial flag. The tag attached to the Mum will say:

"I support the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial", and then right underneath this it will say: "All Gave Some…But Some Gave All". The sales of these Memorial Mums will be contingent upon each designated Fire Department getting enough volunteer sellers from their departments and neighboring departments. The sales of these Memorial Mums will take place at local Super Markets and businesses like Shopko, Wal-Mart, etc., wherever there is an appropriate amount of good exposure to people shopping. Each seller will wear some designation as a firefighter or as a supporter of firefighters, to let the passerby know they are supporting the WSFM.

Appropriate signage will be sent along with the Memorial Mums, we ask only that the sellers use a fire department boot in their possession for the people to put their donations into. Any donation of money allows the individual to receive a Memorial Mum.

Each district should anticipate participating in about 5-6 or more places to sell the Memorial Mums, and sell from approx. 8 in the morning until about 6 at night, this again would depend on each local. Each of the selected businesses will need a seller at each door for a two-hour period and then a new seller would replace that person. Certainly one can do more than one shift if they so desire to.

The goal of the WSFM is to sell 50,000 Memorial Mums across the State during this time period, with all donations going to the continued operation of the WSFM. The goal

of each city would be a minimum of 1000 Memorial Mum sales.

This is a wonderful way for all Firefighters across the State to come together on this one or two-day period and promote and raise money for the WSFM. Please help make this fundraiser a success this year and subsequent years to help maintain the pristine memorial we have that honors all Firefighters from the State of Wisconsin, especially those who died "In the Line of Duty"

Thank you from the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial Board of Directors

A special thank you to Perkins restaurant in Wisconsin Rapids for the donation of the American Flag.   The flag will be used in functions at the WSFM Park.

Website & Facebook updates coming soon!

In the future you will notice a SPECIAL THANKS list to acknowlege the efforts and donations of our supporters on the WSFM website and our Facebook page. We will strive to include everyone, however in the event that we miss someone or a department, PLEASE contact Mike Miller via email at: mmiller@wsfm.org so that they can be properly recognized.

We will never be able to properly thank each and every individual, organization, business, family, or department, that has given a donation of time, money, materials, vehicles, or just plain hard work.   With that said, we sincerely and humbly thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Without all of your efforts the Memorial would not be what it is today and it would not reflect the true meaning of what this is all about....and that is to never forget, and to forever honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

We are truly BLESSED and APPRECIATIVE of you all.
           The WSFM Board of Directors
