On October 6, 2007 the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial, Inc. Board of Directors will be sponsoring the annual Final Roll Call Ceremony, Final Alarm Ceremony and Final Alarm Procession in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Final Roll Call Ceremony will be conducted at the Memorial Park beginning at 2:30 PM. At that time the names of all Fallen Firefighters listed on the Memorial Wall will be read along with the tolling of the Memorial Bell for each. This should be a very moving ceremony and a wonderful way to honor those members and their families. The WSFM Board of Directors is respectfully requesting that Departments with members listed on the Memorial Wall be present and also that they  contact surviving family members and invite them to this year’s ceremony. In addition, we are looking for at least twenty volunteers to assist with the reading of the names.  Currently there are 202 names on the Wall. Please contact Steve Quam if you are interested in assisting during the ceremony via email at ffmemorial@aol.com or send a note to WSFM at P.O. Box 248 Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54495-0248.

Prior to the start of activities at the Memorial Park, fire apparatus parking will be available at the Masonic Center which is just south of the Memorial Park and within easy walking distance. The two parking lots at the park itself will also provide limited parking space for apparatus. Some on-street parking may also be available. The members of the Masonic Center have graciously offered to provide refreshments with all proceeds being donated to the WSFM. Following the afternoon tours and ceremony at the park, apparatus drivers are encouraged to stage their vehicles at the parking lot of Lincoln High School prior to the start of the Final Alarm Ceremony.

This year’s Final Alarm Ceremony will be held at the Wisconsin Rapids Performing Arts Center located at the Lincoln High School. The address for the PAC is 1801 16th Street South in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. The school is located on the east side of the city. The starting time for the ceremony will be 6:00 PM with the Final Alarm Procession following.

The W.S.F.M. offers our thanks for your continued support of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial park project.
