Louis McGillan: On March 28, 1933, firefighter Louis McGillan was injured shortly after 7 a.m. when an Appleton fire truck skidded at the south end of the South Oneida Street drawbridge and hit a telephone pole.
"As the truck crashed into the pole, it hurled McGillan and three other firemen to the ground," according to department records. "McGillan received a basal skull fracture and died at 11:45 this morning without regaining consciousness." |
